Dominik Ambroise.jpeg

Dominique Ambroise is a full-time artist living and working in Miami, FL.

Her artwork explores notions of pilgrimage, ritualistic ceremonies, decency, and insanity informed by her African and Haitian heritage. Her paintings appear to be moving between reality and fantasy, sobriety and phantasmagoria, evoking images of courageous women seemingly in a trance as seen during Mardi-Gras season and queen-like figures harboring majestic postures. Ambroise has exhibited her work in galleries and public spaces such as Festival Arts, Haiti, the African American Research Library & Cultural Center, Fort Lauderdale, and her paintings have been published in the books Presence Feminine Dans L'art Haitien by Marie Alice Theard, and Here There and Beyond by Fred Thomas et Krysto.
